Can’t Hurt Me, by David Goggins
This is easily one of my favorite books because it destroys the narrative of our own limitations and shows you that you can truly overcome just about anything if you’re willing to push through and do the work necessary. In this book, Goggins—a former Navy SEAL, ultra marathon runner, and an all around badass, shares his journey from childhood to today, and it illustrates how he has adopted a “no excuses” mindset to conquer countless challenges that everyone else said would be impossible to overcome. I think of this book like a harsh and expletive-filled bible that’s perfect for building the kind of unshakable spirit that you need to get through your toughest challenges.

Relentless, by Tim S. Grover
While I’m not a sports fan, this book by Tim Grover, Michael Jordan’s former personal trainer is another one of my favorites because of his single minded focus on doing whatever is necessary to overcoming challenges and achieving success. In it, he shares his journey and the principles that have helped him to overcome adversity in his own life, as well as the journeys and principles of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, and other top tier athletes that propelled them to the top of the league. While providing a roadmap for overcoming challenges, the stories shared also serve as a reminder that despite facing challenges, we can still achieve amazing things with the right mindset.
